# About FlyQuest

**In one line:** FlyQuest is a South African career platform, founded by Tlangelani "TK" Khosa, that helps students and graduates get picked for jobs, graduate programmes, and bursaries, built from his own experience of being rejected by every public university and private college in South Africa in 2021.

## The founder's story
In 2021, TK applied to every university he could in South Africa and was rejected by all of them. He pivoted to a private institution (Eduvos), studied software engineering, graduated with 19 module distinctions, and became a software engineer at Eduvos, the same institution that gave him a chance when the public system couldn't.

He shared what he was going through on LinkedIn, and hundreds of people responded with a version of the same story: talented people doing the work and getting nowhere, not for lack of ability but because nobody had shown them how the system actually works. That gap is why FlyQuest exists.

## Track record
1. **Mentorship**: Mentored students who've gone on to be accepted into honours programmes at UP, UWC, UCT, UJ, and Wits.
2. **Coaching**: Coached young professionals into roles at companies including FNB, Amazon, Standard Bank, and Investec, many of them their first job.
3. **Speaking**: Delivered a dozen speaking engagements as of 2026, including TEDx, Elevate Africa, Eduvos, University of Pretoria, GuildSA, and Network In Your City.

## How FlyQuest works (philosophy)
1. **Clarity before applications**: You don't send another CV out until you know what story it's actually telling.
2. **Tools before talk**: Templates, structure, and a plan come first. Motivation runs out, a system doesn't.
3. **Real results over motivation**: The measure is the interview you land, not how inspired you felt getting there.
4. **Nobody navigates alone**: TK didn't have someone in his corner. That's the whole reason FlyQuest exists.
