Before FlyQuest
Before I helped anyone else, I was the one locked out.
In 2021, I applied to every university I could in South Africa. I got rejected by all of them.
No plan B. No one to call. Just a decision that had already been made for me, and a system that didn't owe me an explanation.
I pivoted to a private institution and threw myself into software engineering. I graduated with 19 module distinctions. I became a software engineer at Eduvos, the same institution that gave me a chance when the public system couldn't.
I didn't walk through a door. I learned how to build one.
The Realization
The difference was never talent. It was access to the playbook.
I shared what I was going through on LinkedIn. Not because I had it figured out, but because I was still in it. And the responses kept coming, hundreds of them, all telling some version of the same story.
Different names, same story. Talented people, doing the work, getting nowhere. Not because they weren't good enough. Because nobody had ever shown them how the system actually works.
That gap is what FlyQuest exists to close.
